Tea Party organizations are calling out the IRS for coordinated attacks against the groups. The IRS has allegedly hindered the issuance of their tax-exempt status by creating unprecedented stipulations and making obtaining the status virtually impossible – or elongated in time. These coordinated efforts by the IRS were an apparent effort to slow down or thwart the application process.

In November, the Grassroots Action Alert reported that Tea Party groups were being conspicuously audited and unfairly charged for access to public facilities. As we now know, that was just one of many orchestrated leftist attacks designed to silence the Tea Party or render the movement ineffective.

But how unprecedented would it actually be if the Supreme Court declared a law unconstitutional if it was passed by "a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress"?

The Supreme Court has been doing precisely that for 209 years!

Nor is it likely that Barack Obama has never heard of it. He has a degree from the Harvard law school and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago law school. In what must be one of the most famous Supreme Court cases in history -- Marbury v. Madison in 1803 -- Chief Justice John Marshall established the principle that the Supreme Court can declare acts of Congress null and void if these acts violate the Constitution.

They have been doing so for more than two centuries. It is the foundation of American constitutional law. There is no way that Barack Obama has never heard of it or really believes it to be "unprecedented" after two centuries of countless precedents.

In short, he is simply lying.

Now there are different kinds of liars. If we must have lying Presidents of the United States, I prefer that they be like Richard Nixon. You could just look at him and tell that he was lying.

But Obama is much smoother. On this and on many other issues, you would have to know what the facts are to know that he is lying. He is obviously counting on the fact that, in this era of dumbed-down education, many people have no clue as to what the facts are.  ...Read

Big Labor asserts that workers have rights to a workweek capped at 40 hours, a certain amount of paid vacation, and unsustainable pension programs. Rights, in fact, to lots of things--but not to leave the union or to stop funding their political activities. The Employee Rights Act, introduced last year by Sen. Orrin Hatch and Rep. Tim Scott, seeks to change that.

We all know the feeling of quiet resentment upon opening a paycheck, only to find that a quarter of what we've earned has been hijacked by a federal government everyone knows is extravagantly wasteful. But, however much of our income we may suspect is going to finance public employees' "planning" excursions to Las Vegas, at least we know that much of our money does go to important purposes.

Some Americans, though, find in each paycheck a void more unpleasant than tax withholding. For those workers whose jobs require them to be members of a union, they are likely to find that their unions have deducted money, as well, much of it used for political activities--even without their consent.

Few people, given a choice, would wish to donate large chunks of their income regularly to political campaigns, year after year of their working lives. Yet under current law, unions can make it difficult--if not impossible--for employees to opt out of contributing to such activities. And if they even try, members could face intimidation, or worse.

This shakedown is a fundamental violation of employee rights. Its sole purpose is to protect the political power of union bosses. And for many union members, the money their so-called leaders are skimming from their paychecks goes to advance political causes to which the employees themselves are opposed. ...Read

Irony—Police Shut-down Event Promoting U.S. Constitution.  Thomas More Law Center Files Lawsuit against Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI); Allegan Officials (04/30/12)

ANN ARBOR, MI – In the middle of an event to extol the virtues of the U.S. Constitution and “American Laws For American Courts,” the audience learned first-hand how easy it is to lose their freedom of Speech and Assembly. 

Amid shouts of “What about free speech?” from the audience, the Allegan Police Department ordered the event shut-down.   School officials notified police that they had received a letter complaining about the event from Dawud Walid, Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI).   The letter asked the school to disallow the event despite an existing contract.  CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism funding trial in U. S. history, U.S. v. Holy Land Foundation.

As a result, the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced today that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR- MI), its Executive Director, the City of Allegan, the Allegan Police Department and the School District were named as defendants in a thirty-four page civil rights lawsuit filed in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Michigan, this morning. On September 11, 2011, blacks from the West Coast and the East Coast joined together and signed one of the most comprehensive legal briefs ever prepared on racial discrimination, then filed their brief today, September 12th, at 9:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time in US District Court in Seattle (Case No. C11 - 1503). Washington just added another $2.4 trillion to an already exploding debt of $14 trillion. The accumulated obligations of the U.S. now exceed 100% of America’s Gross Domestic Product. We’ve reached that point at which we are trapped in an economic catch-22.

Over the last 150 years or so, the average interest rate paid on cost of capital has been 4%. But these days, interest rates on the federal debt run just 1.25%. Remembering 'Shifty' Powers (04/26/11)
     
One of the "Band of Brothers" soldiers died on June 17, 2009.     We're hearing a lot today about big splashy memorial services.     I want a nationwide memorial service for Darrell "Shifty" Powers.

Shifty volunteered for the airborne in WWII and served with Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st Airborne Infantry. If you've seen Band of Brothers on HBO or the History Channel, you know Shifty. His character appears in all 10 episodes, and Shifty himself is interviewed in several of them.    ...Read
 

More Than 90 Organizations Sign Letter Opposing Repeal of Law Regarding Homosexuality in the Military (12/15/10)

Washington, DC – Ninety-four organizations have joined together to sign a letter to members of the U.S. House and Senate opposing the repeal of the law that prohibits open homosexuality in the military. Today the U.S. Senate and House are simultaneously considering separate bills to repeal Section 654, Title 10, U.S.C. (1993), which is usually mislabeled by the subsequent Executive policy known as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT).

The ninety-four organizations represent more than 40 million people across the nation. The letter , which is being sent to every member of the U.S. House and Senate, states that an attempt to repeal the law that prohibits open homosexuality in the military during the lame duck session is illegitimate and untimely. Three of the four top commanding officers testified before Congress that such a repeal should not be undertaken when the country is at war.

Israel's Netanyahu keeping mum about Obama's virtual arms embargo (07/05/10)
     Israel's government has kept its silence during a year-long ban on weaopns sales imposed by the United States at the same time the administration has approved $10 billion in weapons sales to Arab states, a report said.

The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs reported that the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sought to conceal a virtual arms embargo by the administration of President Barack Obama, Middle East Newsline reported. The institute said the Israeli government was also refusing to protest massive U.S. weapons projects for Arab rivals in the Middle East, which has eroded Israel's military superiority over its neighbors.    Read
 

Kagan Takes Lead Against Patriotic Students at Harvard (05/10/10)
     The nation's largest conservative youth outreach organization, Young America's Foundation, says Elena Kagan trampled on students' rights as dean of Harvard Law School.

Kagan treated patriotic students like second class citizens when she banned them from meeting with military recruiters in the career office.

It is unclear whether she encouraged or required students to go off campus to meet with military recruiters.  According to the New York Times, Harvard allowed on campus recruiting with the assistance of the Harvard Law Students Veterans Association (HLSVA).  However, according to a letter posted on the HLSVA website from February 18, 2005, the HLSVA recruiters "will be strongly encouraged to arrange for an off-campus location to conduct interviews."    Read
