Dear Oak Member,
We have got our work cut out for us more than ever before with the passage of this healthcare legislation. We will be dissecting it for weeks to come for every implication and impact it will have on us and America. No legislation in history has divided the nation as much as the recent Healthcare Reform Bill. Why? No bill in American history will so fundamentally impact our future.
There may not be anyone in America who does not think that healthcare reform is needed, but is what we are getting what we need? This debate is far from over. As Christians, we are called to be “the light of the world,” which means that Christians should have illumination on the important issues of our times, even in the midst of such darkness and confusion. As Christians, we have a responsibility to have understanding, and if we are going to be the salt of the earth that we are called to be, we also must be engaged in the great issues of our times.
